(C) Student Relationships. The University will not prohibit consensual relationships that are intimate pupils. Nevertheless, where one pupil is with in a posture of authority over another: (a) neither pupil should get or start a romantic relationship with one other; and (b) any consensual intimate relationships must certanly be disclosed and mitigated. A situation of authority exists where a graduate or undergraduate student acts as an undergraduate student’s instructor, TA, tutor, research manager, grader, resident associate, community consultant, manager in students employment part, or mentor designated by the college (such as for instance orientation pupil leaders). 2
The student in the position of authority must immediately disclose the existence of the intimate relationship so that alternative arrangements may be made for the teaching, evaluation or oversight/supervision in such cases. At the very least, the right mitigation plan is likely to be set up to make sure that the intimate relations usually do not compromise the academic or work relationship. Continue reading
